A stellar freshman class highlights first day of classes
The remnants of a monsoon-like storm that drenched the Northwest over the weekend greeted students on the first day of fall term at the University of Oregon, but a little rain is no bother to true Ducks.
About 4,000 freshmen are on campus this fall, including 2,800 from the state of Oregon, as well as students from every state in the United States and from nearly 100 countries. This year's freshman class is setting records for excellence and diversity.
You can meet a few of them in our "Meet a New Duck" series of profiles.
Total enrollment is about 24,000, about the same as last year, reflecting a strategic decision to maintain quality of the educational experience for students.
