Senior Profile: Christina Kempster, journalism

Fifth in a series of profiles of Oregon students who will be graduating in June.

NAME: Christina Kempster

HOMETOWN: Milwaukie, Oregon

MAJOR: Journalism, Electronic Media

CAREER INTERESTS: I am a storyteller and passionate about communicating with others. By pursuing a career in journalism I would get to practice these passions everyday. I want to report for a public television or radio station in the Northwest.

WHAT I DO FOR FUN: Volunteer at KLCC-FM News. Work for the DuckTv News web team. Edit a friend’s food blog. Watch "Downton Abbey" and "Game of Thrones" with my roommates. Cook. Search for a good read.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED: Time management!

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF OREGON: I love the community that I am surrounded with in the Journalism school and with my sorority Pi Beta Phi. I enjoy being able to ride my bike all around the city of Eugene. The walk to Autzen before all the leaves fall.

THE FACULTY MEMBER WHO MADE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN MY TIME AT OREGON IS: Rebecca Force. My junior year I walked into my upper division digital video production class and was terrified of the woman that stood before me: Rebecca Force. She is infamous in the journalism school for being the leader of the Duck TV clan and a news extraordinaire . Needless to say I survived the class and enjoyed her teaching style so much that I have taken two more classes from her. Although she may be tough, she knows what it takes to make us the best that we can be as students and as human beings.
