Santa Cruz loves its Ducks

Ryan Coonerty, mayor of Santa Cruz, Calif., and a 1996 UO grad, has declared Saturday Duck Day.
"Even though we are only 50 miles south of Stanford, I am officially, in my capacity as Mayor, declaring it 'Duck Day' in the City of Santa Cruz on Saturday and urging all my fellow residents to support Coach (Chip) Kelly and the Ducks," Coonerty wrote in an email to University of Oregon officials.
In his mayor's proclamtion, Coonerty calls out the UO as the finest institution of higher education on the West Coast.
"While providing an excellent education to its students and bettering the world, the University of Oregon has also produced the most exciting football team ever to take the field in college football," reads a portion of the proclamtion.
Coonerty urges all residents to cheer on the Ducks to a convincing victory over Stanford.
