Graduate profile: Laura Krogman

HIGH SCHOOL/HOMETOWN: Bishop Blanchet High School, Seattle WA

MAJOR: Environmental Science, with minors in Chemistry and Biology.

THE INSTRUCTOR WHO INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: Julie Bacon is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. She evokes justice, understanding and opinions. Her teaching style is one that elicits deep, comprehensive and interdisciplinary thinking, which has proven a major factor in my intellectual development both as a student and an individual in society.

CAREER INTERESTS: Wildlife veterinary medicine, social justice and combating global climate change

WHAT I DO FOR FUN: I enjoy painting, fishing, spending time with Moby, my giant golden retriever, and hanging out with friends.

WHAT I LEARNED: Persistence and tenacity are the key factors to success. Without these factors, goals become meaningless and life becomes boring!

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT OREGON, THE PLACE: I love Oregon’s beauty — regardless of the season. It’s such a great place to spend time in the outdoors.

WHY I’M PROUD TO BE A DUCK: Being a Duck means having the tools to pursue one’s goals — whatever they may be. Ducks are encouraged to follow their passions and are given the resources to achieve their goals.
