Owen was recently named Philip H. Knight Professor in the School of Music and Dance, in recognition of his achievements in scholarship and musical performance. He is founder and director of the Oregon Jazz Celebration, an annual workshop for college, junior high and senior high jazz ensembles. He was recently appointed music director of the Peter Britt Festival Jazz Camp. Owen’s compositions have been performed each year since 1986 at the InternationalAssociation of Jazz Educators Conference. He received his master’s degree in 1985 from the University of Northern Colorado.

Academic Stat Sheet

Brau was named last winter to be a fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in scientific research. He is director of the UO Center for High Energy Physics, teaches physics and astronomy, and conducts research on elementary particles and fields. Brau is the UO’s Knight Professor of Natural Science, and received his Ph.D. in 1988 from MIT.
