Ducks host opening rounds of NCAA volleyball tournament

After knocking off Northern Colorado, the fifth-seeded Oregon volleyball team aims to extend its most successful season taking on Dayton at 8 p.m. Saturday at Matthew Knight Arena.

Making their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in the past seven years, the Ducks defeated Northern Colorado of the Big Sky Conference Friday at Matthew Knight Arena. In the other first-round match in Eugene, Dayton beat Pepperdine.

Tickets to the tournament can be purchased from the Oregon Ticket Office.

If the Ducks defeat Dayton, they would advance to the NCAA Regionals (Dec. 7-8 in Omaha, Neb.) for the first time since 2008.

The Ducks finished the regular season 25-4 and 16-4 in conference play, good for second place in the Pac-12. Oregon is one of seven Pac-12 teams selected for the tournament, five of which are top-16 seeds: No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 USC, No. 7 UCLA and No. 13 Washington. Arizon and California also were selected.

Oregon previously hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament in 1984 and 1986 at McArthur Court.
