Congratulations, graduates!

The University of Oregon celebrated spring commencement on Monday, June 18, with 5,015 graduates receiving 5,233 degrees, including the UO’s oldest-ever graduate, Virginia Beavert, an elder in Washington’s Yakama tribe.

An academic parade of graduates, faculty and staff members in regalia proceeded along 13th Avenue to Matthew Knight Arena for university commencement ceremonies.

"History has time for one sentence. What will your sentence be?" asked commencement speaker Jefferson Smith, a UO alumnus and state representative from Portland who founded the nonprofit Bus Project, which is dedicated to engaging young people in politics.
