Busy weekend for Oregon athletics

If you don't want to travel to Seattle to watch the No. 2 Ducks take on Washington State this weekend, you can catch another No. 2 Oregon squad right here in Eugene.

The No. 2 Oregon volleyball team (11-0, 2-0 in Pac-12 play) hosts Utah (9-6, 0-2) at 8 p.m. Friday and Colorado (11-3, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Both matches take place at Matthew Knight Arena.

Oregon jumped six spots in the AVCA national poll after sweeping defending conference champion USC, which had been ranked No. 2, as well as Oregon State to open Pac-12 play. The Ducks started the season ranked No. 20.

In addition, junior Lauren Plum was named both National Player of the Week and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for her play leading the Ducks over the Trojans and Beavers.

Also Saturday, the No. 3 Oregon women and No. 23 Oregon men cross country teams host  the Bill Dellinger Invitational starting at 10:30 a.m.  at Springfield Country Club.

The Oregon football team (4-0, 1-0 in the Pac-12), meanwhile, plays its first road game of the season, traveling to Seattle to play WSU (2-2, 0-1).

QUICK HITS: Oregon leads the all-time series with WSU, 44-38-7. Oregon has won five in a row vs. WSU and seven of the last eight meetings. This is the first time the schools have played each other in Seattle.
