Frances Bronet, dean of the UO School of Architecture and Allied Arts, has been awarded the 2010-11 Distinguished Professor Award from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.The award recognizes sustained creative achievement in the advancement of architectural education through teaching, design, scholarship, research or service. Bronet, a past president of ACSA, is one of four recipients of this year’s Distinguished Professor Award.“It’s really a great honor because it’s by a jury of your peers,” Bronet said. “It is exciting because it’s my community.”

Ashton Eaton wins Bowerman
Five-time NCAA champion and world heptathlon record-holder Ashton Eaton was named the 2010 Bowerman Award winner Wednesday night by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.Eaton becomes the second consecutive Duck to win the award, which is track and field's equivalent of the Heisman. Galen Rupp won the inaugural Bowerman in 2009, when Eaton was also a finalist.
